Winter 2012

Winter with the Reeves Family
December 2011- February 2012

We have experienced a very mild winter this year.  No snow days....  Brynley is getting bigger and bigger everyday.  She is still on the chunky side, but we wouldn't want her any other way!

Decemeber 8th was a very big day for the Reeves family!  I found out I was expected another baby!  Jeff was at his work Christmas party that evening, and I had a feeling I might be pregnant.  Soooo, I took a test and it was definitely positive!  I thought it would be fun to wrap the test up in a box, and give it to Jeff when he got home that evening.  He opened it, and was very suprised, and excited!  It has been a whirlwind since then and we are elated to add another little one to our family.  We found out we are due around August 14th.  We thought it would be fun to keep the excitement in, until Christmas, and tell our family then.  It was hard to keep the secret, but we did it.  I took a picture of Brynley in a BIG SISTER shirt, and wrapped it up for my parents, and Jeff's parents.  My parent's opened theirs on Christmas Eve.  They were completely shocked and excited.  It took my mom a second to get it, but atfer she read it out loud, she got it!  The next day on Christmas, we did the same with Jeff's parents.  Kris opened it up and had the same reaction as well.  It was so fun to share our news with our family this way.  We also found out other good news on Christmas Day.....Jennifer and John are engaged!  YEA!  So glad to be welcoming John to our family. Jennifer & John got married in January and we could not be more happy for them.

We took this picture to inform our friends and family once I was passed my 1st trimester.

The first trimester of my pregnancy, I was nauseous, just like I was with Brynley.  Brynley, of course has no idea I am pregnant.  In fact, she never quite understood it the entire pregnancy.  She did start becoming more fond of playing with her "babies".  She would pretend she was a mother to her baby dolls and stuffed animals.  I bought her a new "baby" that came with a bottle and made baby sounds.  She LOVES playing with it.

This winter, we did some fun things with our families.  In January, I took Brynley to Houston for my cousin's Quince.  I rode with my parents and Ally & Michael.  Overall, Brynley did fairly well.  We did get lost getting to our hotel, which was right about the time, Brynley had enough of being in a car seat.  We actually missed the ceremony, but really enjoyed the reception.  I am very glad I went, since this was my last time to see my Uncle Charles.  In February, Jeff took Brynley to Oklahoma for a Wedding Shower for Jennifer & John.  I was not able to attend, because I was working.  I did judge quite a few dance competitions, but only worked ones that were in town.

We also went to Grapevine Mills mall with my mom, sisters and their kids.  We ate at Rainforest Cafe.  In late February, the weather started to get nice again, so I began taking Brynley for walks after work, in her new wagon.....which she LOVES!   My parents hosted a "UP" party, where we played fun activities and watched the movie "Up".  We had lots of fun, but Brynley and I didn't make it through the movie.  She is still a bit too young to sit still.

Brynley
Brynley is growing up so fast.  Now that she is walking, she is into everything and always on the move.  She is slowly starting to be a little more independent when she plays, as well.  She continues to love her new chair, and has slowly started to play more with her kitchen.  Her vocabulary is getting better each day too.  She started calling Jeff, "Papa", instead of "Dad-dy"....silly girl!
I have ralized that she mimics a lot of what she sees, such as sweeping the floor, cleaning, putting away trash, etc.  She is such a smart girl!  She is sleeping through the night very well, but we continue to rock her to sleep and give her a night time bottle.  She is eating fairly well too, and has really begun to feed herself independently too.  It is still very tough to take her to restaurants, as she doesn't like to sit still in her high chair.  Overall, Brynley is becoming one intelligent and sassy little girl.  We love her to pieces!

Brynley- 12 months

Our little girl, is not so little anymore! Brynley turned ONE this month!!   This was a busy month for our family.  We had Thanksgiving, Black Friday shopping, Brynley's 1 year pictures, preparing for Christmas, and of course we celebrated Brynley's 1st birthday.

Brynley really enjoyed the holidays and did suprisingly well being surrounded with all of our decorations in our house. She never really bothered with any of the ornaments on the tree, which was good.  For Brynley's birthday, we wanted to get her, her very own chair from Pottery Barn.  We gave it to her a few weeks early, which was a great idea in hindsight.  I think the chair is what really motivated her to start walking on her own!  We would practice with her nearly every night, and once we gave her the chair, whe would practice walking from her chair to one of us.  Eventually, she took her 1st steps on November 30, 2012!  Ever since then, she was all over the place and became very sturdy on her feet.

This month was very busy with fun activities due to the holidays.  I love this time of year!  We hosted Thanksgiving at our house again for Jeff's family.  We started a new tradition: we are going to have Brynley or one of the kids put the star on the top of the tree every year!  She was too small to really do it this year, but I thought it would be a fun tradition to begin with our families.

We took Brynley to see Santa for the first time with my family and their kids.  Brynley enjoyed the playing with the snow before seeing him, but once she sat in his lap, she was just mesmerized.  Hopefully she'll smile next year.....I am just glad she didn't cry.  We also took Brynley and joined the rest of the Easler family to ICE at the Gaylord. We had a fun time, but Brynley wasn't really into it. She was just too young, and we had to hold her the whole time, which was tough due to the huge jackets we had to wear. Afterwards, we walked around the hotel, and then grabbed lunch at one of the restaurants. This month, I also took Brynley to a birthday party for Leah North. They had a bounce house which Brynley really enjoyed.

We threw her a 1st Birthday Party on her actual birthday- December 17th. We invited our close family members, and everyone came for the festivities.  I had ordered B a cute outfit, which we also used for her 1 year pics.  We hosted the party at our home.  We had snacks, and of course, cake!  We ordered Brynley her own smash cake and cupcakes for everyone else to enjoy. She did a pretty good job with the smash cake, but wasn't too intersted in eating the sweet cake; so we helped her a little bit. She opened lots of presents from her family, and loved them all!  She was so great at the party and everyone enjoyed seeing her have fun. The morning of her birthday, we joined the Hogue's for breakfast with Santa.  It was fun, but Brynley wasn't too fond of Santa. :)

Brynley also started eating more table foods this month, such as: yogurt, raviolis, and pasta.  She tends to eat more at dinner, and still feeds herself with her hands, but has started using the spoon more.  We also weaned Brynley off of formula this month and started her on whole milk. That was a pretty easy transition.  She has started talking a lot more, and says: "uh oh".  I can pat my head now, when prompted, and loves to look at touch and feel books, and still loves dancing!

Brynley loves drinking daddy's egg nog!

This was a fun month, becasue Brynley got to enjoy her 1st Halloween!  Brynley is starting to stand independently for longer periods of time.  She can take a few steps around furniture as long as she holds onto something.  Each evening Jeff and I have her practice walking from one to the other.  She can take about 4-5 steps on her own!  She loves walking around with her walker too.  She is crawling very fast now too, so she is always on the move! She didn't sleep that well this month, becasue she developed a double ear infection.  We co-slept a few times this month, and she would sometimes get up 1-3times a night.    We are still rocking her to sleep and she is still taking 2 naps a day.  In regards to eating, she has begun to feed herself much better.  She loves ravioilos of all kinds, and loves to feed herself.  She doesn't like sitting in her high chair, especially at restaurants, which makes it difficult to go out to eat. She is saying lots more words now too, such as: "a da"- when she sees something, "hello" and likes to hold the phone to her ear, and "Ah!"- loves to scream and has found her voice!

For Halloween, I wanted our family to dress up in themed costumes, so Jeff and I agreed on the Flinestones.  Jeff was Fred, I was Wilma, and Brynley was Pebbles.  It was so fun!  My parents hosted a fun Halloween party at their house and had a great crowd.  We had costume contest, a haunted house, and lots of games for teh kids. It was so much fun!  We also took Brynley trick or treating for her 1st Halloween.  Since she can't walk yet, we took turns carrying her up to the doors with her cousins, Ally & Michael (we went trick or treating in Frisco).  She did fairly well, and we are looking forward to her next Halloween when she can try it more independently.

We also attended a neighborhood party at the park this month.  It was pretty fun and we met some nice neighbors.  Brynley's daycare also had a Halloween party that I attended.  They had a petting zoo!  I got some great pics of B at the party!  She just loves her daycare, friends, and especially her teachers- Ms. Monica and Ms. Mary.  Jeff & I also had a night away and attended the Zac Brown Band with Bret and Bryan.  We had a great time!
